MANAGEMENT PLANS

Preparing and maintaining a detailed forest management plan is an important first step of ownership for all landowners. If you've owned land for a long period of time with no management plan in place; it's never to late to get started managing your forest in an informed, detailed, principled manner. As foresters, we want want to take the landowners goals and objectives and craft a plan that meets their needs while maintaining the health and longevity of the forest. These plans include timber stand inventories and type mapping. Harvest plans and timelines are included with site preparation and reforestation goals. The management plan is also a place to lay out wildlife objectives or recreation objectives. This is where we will sit down with the landowner, listen to their goals and passions and use the data, topography, species composition and budgets to craft a plan to fit their goals.

TIMBER INVENTORIES

Timber inventories include volume estimates, timber type maps, and management recommendations for all stands. This gives you a complete inventory of species, product class, stand volumes, as well as any other pre-determined data points. An inventory is very beneficial in establishing a management plan for any timberland investment, particularly at the time of acquisition to establish your timber basis on the property.

We provide color coded timber type maps that show separate timber stand classifications, with recommendations necessary for each stand in order to optimize timber productivity. Future prescriptions are identified for each stand as the inventory is performed. This data is then used to help prepare a formal management plan for the property. Data sets identify stands in need of thinning or TSI cuts, as well as recommended number of years before any harvests are necessary. Areas requiring planting, spraying or other silvicultural treatments are delineated. Creeks, roads of all types, pipelines, powerlines, buildings or other improvements are also shown.

TIMBER SALES

Timber Sales are infrequent occurrences for many landowners over the span of their timberland ownership. Harvesting timber can be a source of frustration for landowners, with many feeling like they've been taken advantage of upon completion. Relying on NRC and its team of Registered Foresters; landowners can have peace of mind that they're harvest planning, bid procurement, and logging execution is conducted to the highest standards. By enlisting the services of a Registered Forester, it's less likely that sellers or buyers will be caught off guard - which in turn helps landowners get the highest return for their timber. NRC works with a team of respected timber harvesters in South Alabama and will ensure that your timber is sorted and marketed at the highest allowable product class, while maintaining first-class logging operations on site.
